Petrolinvest at 5th International Oil and Gas Conference

The extraction of the first Polish oil in Kazakhstan by Petrolinvest SA – this is one of the subjects discussed during this year’s Oil and Gas Conference "The discovery of oil in the Zhubantam field in Kazakhstan is a new stage in the history of our company", said Paweł Gricuk, President of Petrolinvest SA,  during the Conference at the 5th International Trade Fair of Oil and Gas Industry OIL and GAS, which was held on 26 September 2007 in Warsaw. Paweł Gricuk and Dr Stefan Geroń, Director of Geological Work of Petrolinvest SA in Kazakhstan, took part in the third session of the Conference entitled "Polish oil and gas companies in international markets". Their speeches concerned the surge of oil which took place on 22 September in one of the drills in Kazakhstan, in the Zhubantam field belonging to Petrolinvest SA.   Paweł Gricuk emphasised that the discovery of oil in the shallow drill means that it was highly probable that there was oil in deeper deposits because oil moved from deeper layers towards the surface. Dr Stefan Geroń explained from the scientific point of view what the properties of the discovered oil were: "The oil already flowing from the shallow drill is sulphur-free. We will encounter sulphur deposits in the case of deeper drills".   The Conference speakers included: the Minister of State Treasury Wojciech Jasiński, President of PKN ORLEN Piotr Kownacki, President of the LOTOS Group Paweł Olechnowicz, as well as representatives of other important companies as well as state and scientific institutions from the oil and gas industry.
